Should I choose online or in-person therapy?

Both work equally well clinically. In-person is often better for couples, trauma work, and assessments. Online is more convenient for ongoing weekly sessions. Many clients mix both.

Detailed Answer

by AMHS clinical team

There's no universally "better" option — both online and in-person therapy can be equally effective when done with a qualified clinician. The choice depends on what you're working on and what fits your life. In-person tends to work better for: • Couples therapy (being in the same room helps shift dynamics) • Trauma work where physical presence and safety cues matter • ADHD and psychological assessments • People who find screens draining or struggle to stay focused online • First few sessions to build rapport with a new therapist • Clients whose home environment lacks privacy Online tends to work better for: • Weekly ongoing therapy alongside a busy schedule • Clients outside Delhi or traveling frequently • Maintenance sessions after initial intensive work • When privacy at home is stronger than going to a public clinic • Clients abroad or in tier-2/3 cities without nearby RCI-licensed clinicians • People with mobility challenges or caregiving responsibilities A practical hybrid approach most clients end up with: • Start with 1–2 in-person sessions to build rapport and do assessment • Shift to online for weekly consistency • Come back in-person for harder sessions or check-ins every few months At AMHS you can pick either format, or mix both with the same therapist — no extra paperwork, no reset. Our in-person clinic is in Green Park Extension, New Delhi, open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 10 PM. Visit antarmanmhs.com/clinic for more details.
